'Even though I have been making hats for pop-stars and princesses for 35 years, when I visit a charity shop I still have great fun trying on all the hats, in the hope that one day I will find one as lovely as Mrs McNab's. Until then I'll have to carry on making my own!' - Forward by Stephen Jones
One blustery afternoon in 2008, Jane Miller and Nadia Alpzapiedi were on the tube en route to an Exhibition at the Tate Modern. Having worked together for the Redbridge music service for over 20 years, it was in a dusty, crowded underground carriage that these two talented and dedicated musicians began to discuss the idea of writing a book together.
Why not? They were both keen to utilise their creativity outside of the music service and, having been friends and colleagues for many years, already knew they made a great team. The idea for the book began to take shape that very same day and 7 years later, the finished book was printed by Glassbookcasepress in 2015. This has been a playful collaboration buoyed by friendship and a shared passion to introduce young readers to the joys of rhythm and rhyme.
Today, Jane and Nadia continue working together to promote their book, namely by performing readings at various primary schools across the borough.
